Ear Piercing ( Momimhar posted on May 22nd, 2012 )

About this time last year I had our little princess’ ears pierced when she was five months old.  My husband and I went to Sweet ‘N Sassy located Firewheel Shopping Complex in Garland.  I read an article online that infant girls can have their ears pierced when their about five months old. Baby did not have an idea what was going to happen until the two girls (Sweet ‘N Sassy staff) pinched the earrings on her ears.  She cried for about 30 seconds then she was fine.

I remember when I was a little girl, my mother pierced my ears (as far as I can remember) when I was like 3 or 4 years old.  She’d let me lie down on my tummy pillow under my chin.  Then she pierced my ears with sterilized needle with a thread knotted at the end.  After the needle had gone through, she will leave about 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch thread knotted on both ends.  It’s a way to keep the piercings open until their ready for the real earrings.  The problem of that procedure is, there’s a possibility that piercings will not get even if you are a little wiggly.  See, my ear piercings are uneven.  My mother said that I turned my head a little when she was sticking the needle on one of my ear.  So one hole is a bit higher than the other.

To me, wearing earrings is a symbol of femininity.  I like earrings and I would love to see that my daughter likes them too.

If you want your baby girls’ ears pierced, have it done with a certified individual.  Pediatricians don’t do it.  I found Sweet ‘N Sassy does it.
