Freedom Wherever They Go ( Momimhar posted on March 4th, 2013 )

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of NMEDA for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

A family is an institution in the society.  Our children is the inspiration in the home.  We love them so much that we, parents, do anything we can to be able to provide for their needs.  Some families are fortunate to have children who are physically normal and able to do things without assistance.  But some families have kids who have disabilities like incapabable to move around and they need help in mobility.  I see them at the mall or at restaurants sometimes.  It is just so heartwarming how their families care and support them with total compassion.

At the mall one weekend afternoon I saw a teenager on wheelchair.  He had company and they were at the waiting area outside the mall.  Then came a van,  I guess that was his family picking him up from malling.  When it was time for the teenager to get in the van, a special equipment came out of the door and he got in the van without a mess.

I wasn't really familiar with wheelchair accessible vehicles like what I saw at the mall that day.  That was very clever actually because people with disabilities won't be having difficulty in getting on and off their vehicles wherever they go.  So is there a special vehicle for them?  Yes.  And here's why.

NMEDA or National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association is a non-profit trade association that promotes and supports quality transportation for people with disabilities.  The services include:

  • installation of equipment
  • quality assurance program
  • emergency assistance

I wondered how these type of vehicles can taken care of as far as maintenance is concerned.  Actually, it's their Quality Assurance Program that is designated to enhance vehicle modification and mobility equipment installation in a manner consistent with the highest guidelines available in the industry.  It is a good option for people with moblity problems like the teen I saw at the mall to have a wheelchair aAccessible vehicle.  It is helpful in a manner that getting around town won't be a big problem anymore.  There will be freedom in mobility despite of disability.

If someone you know who you think will be interested to have a vehicle like this, visit a NMEDA QAP (Quality Assurance Program) Dealer for mobility solutions.

This is really a good device for those who have family member that has disability. It will lessen the burden and will make it a bit easy for them to move.

We have a neighbor next door, i think it was her sibling who come by and visit them and they have a van like this because their daughter is disabled. Unfortunately, our place is not disable friendly because they had to climbed 15 steps carrying the disable child in her wheel chair just to come up here.

Great thing that there are services such as this that offers mobility to those who needed it. This type of vehicle can greatly help those with disability and can make their life a little bit stressful, especially when going to places.

  8. Yes! people with disability can travel wherever they go because of programs like this. I worked in a nursing home the first seven months when I came to America and experienced this 🙂

That was nice that now disabled person can go wherever he desired to go. Indeed a must have for those who doesn’t want to be immobile for the rest of their lives. Nothing can stop them now!
