How Important Is ‘Me’ Time? ( Momimhar posted on March 17th, 2013 )

Today was our ‘me’ time.   My cousin Emz, who blogs at Bucks Saver and Sources, went out this afternoon for a get-together.  Since she had her second baby six months ago, she haven’t gone out by herself.  She asked me if I can go with her for a day out.  I haven’t asked her about it before because she was breastfeeding and baby was still a newborn.

They are leaving for Indiana on Monday to visit her hubby’s family for a week, she thought she wanted to go out without the kids.  I know the feeling.  Every parent needs a time for himself/herself once in a while.  It is very important and beneficial to a parent like me.  If not, our capacity to become a good parent will become less and less.  Our self-esteem will become low that will lead to a stressful parenting.  There are many things we can do on our ‘me’ time.  Examples are:

  • go to a spa for a pampering, or
  • do your own spa or pampering at home
  • watch a movie
  • malling (retail therapy, if you like)
  • dine out with a friend
  • go to a bookstore
  • get a haircut, manicure, and pedicure
  • go to a home goods store

So I picked my cousin at her house then we went to the mall 4o minutes away from where we live.  We like going to Collin Creek because it’s an indoor mall.  There’s no need to go out to find stores we’d like to visit.  We looked for infant girl clothes and toddler girls clothing.  Supposedly we’re gonna shop at Children’s Place but the store was already closed since January.  We just went to Gymboree.  Lot’s of pretty, cute, and colorful girls clothes on sale.  They had an extra 30% off everything in the store.  Then we went to a department store and shopped for women’s handbags.  My cousin and I found the ones we liked but we controlled ourselves not to overspend today.  Whew!  After a few stroll ate an early dinner at the food court.   It was like 5:30 P.M.  Then we noticed the mall employee was putting the chairs on the tables and we’re the only two eating in the food court.  We didn’t have any idea what’s going on.  We finished our dinner and tried to look for another store to visit.  We saw one but it’s closed already, and the stores nearby is fixing to close the doors too.  Then I figured.  It’s Sunday!  We didn’t realize that the mall closes at 6 P.M. on Sundays.  That was funny!

Anyway, we headed home and promised each other we’ll do it again next time.  But we will have to be aware of the time if we agreed to go out on a Sunday.  🙂

It’s Easter Egg Hunt Soon ( Momimhar posted on March 17th, 2013 )

I was invited to a birthday dinner a week ago.  I asked my husband if he can come home early Thursday night because I am not taking the little one with me.  Gladly he said yes.  And the time he reached home, I was ready to go.

At the dinner, my friends and I are were talking about planning to do an Easter Egg Hunt for our kids on Easter Sunday.  Like last year’s Easter Egg Hunt, it will be a joint event with her son’s birthday party.  The previous event was very nice because it was held at the park by the lake and the kids had great fun hunting for eggs around.  Although it was windy that day, it helped ease up the heat of the sun on our skin.

The birthday party and Easter Egg Hunt for the kids require lots of party supplies and treats.  I think the party supplies will not going to be a big of a problem because I am sure we have some of them left from the previous family parties.  We can just buy a few additional extra for future back-up.  Now for the treats.  We will be bringing plastic eggs and will put some money on selected few.  Then my friend will buy chocolates and candies from an online candy store.  We will just give her our share of the treats’ cost.  Hopefully, we’ll get a very pleasant weather on Easter Sunday.

School Clearance Signing ( Momimhar posted on March 17th, 2013 )

My younger sister said that closing of classes for the School Year 2012-2013 is in two days.  So my niece and nephews will be off school soon.  They cannot wait for the summer vacation.  Of course, because they love to play and have fun.

Because the kids’ clearance form will not be signed by the respective subject teachers if they don’t meet the final requirements, my sister asked me for a small assistance.  She hadn’t paid the balance for the school tuition fees yet because she doesn’t have the money.  So I sent her some that will cover the tuition fees and small expenses at school.

The process of the School Clearance signing is easy if the students respond to the school requirements immediately such as:

1.  Fully paid tuition fees and miscellaneous fees

2.  Textbooks returned on time without any damage

3.  Class and school projects on every subject matter was accomplished

4.  Fines paid

5.  Borrowed books are returned to the library

6.  …and others.

If there are students who had issues that lead them to the Guidance Counselor’s office, it’s recommended to resolve the issues before closing of classes.  I was in that situation when I was in high school.  But thanks God the issue between me and my Math teacher was resolved.  I will tell you the story in my next post.

And so, the above mentioned school requirements are based on our public school back home.  Some schools especially the private schools have broader function so the requirements list is much longer. 🙂

Hopefully my niece and nephews had good grades this year.
