Quinceanera Celebration Is Something Else ( Momimhar posted on December 1st, 2025 )

They haven’t seen each other for almost two years.

Last weekend my darling daughter was invited to a birthday party and it’s a Quinceanera. It’s a coming of age celebration of girls in Hispanic tradition when they reach the age of 15. It was a very lively event started at 2:00 P.M. until midnight that day. There was a ceremony which is typically a Catholic worship service honoring the birthday celebrant. Oh, how beautiful P looked in her lovely quinceanera ball gown.

Okay, let me try to breakdown the flow of events at the party.

Worship service as part of the ceremony.

Ceremony – This is when the family and the guests gather in front of the stage where a priest presides the worship service. It’s like an hour long service.

Ceremonial.

Cocktail – After the ceremony, the bar was open. It’s cocktail time-which I enjoy very much. I bet the grown ups liked it too. Haha! There was like a Mariachi band playing lively music the moment we went outside for the horse show. It’s a socializing moment for the guests and during this time, there was a horse show. Two to three horses preformed like a little tap dance in front of everyone and mainly to the birthday girl. After the horse show, the birthday girl got on one of the horses and went on a horse ride for a bit. She sure loves horses!

Horse ride.

Dinner – The dinner started exactly on time. It was catered so we were served Mexican food that evening. It was good!

Presentation – After dinner, the celebrant was presented together with her parents and close relatives. The band played lively Mexican music and the whole family danced for a while in front of everyone. Gift-giving, special presentation from the parents, and picture-taking with the birthday girl were the highlights on this moment.

Daddy and daughter dance.

Dance – Then came the dance presentation of the birthday celebrant with her court consisting of her her close friends and, maybe, cousins. She only have one sibling as of the moment and he’s still an infant. 🙂

Presentation of the celebrant.

After the dance presentation, there came disco time. Dance for everybody. It was never quiet. The DJ and the Mexican band made sure the guests were entertained. 🙂 There was a snack bar and dessert bar set up for everyone, too.

K did not want to stay until midnight so we said our goodbyes and birthday wishes to the celebrant and her parents at around 9:30 P.M. It was a wonderful fairy tale like celebration. The birthday girl looked very beautiful…like a princess. We had a great time.

P.S.

On our way to the party venue, K asked if there’s also something like that Quinceanera in The Philippines, the coming of age celebration. I said there is what we call a “debut”. It is when a girl turns 18 years old. She asked again if she can have one. I was like, “yea if you want to”. She said, “yay!”

I need sponsors as early as now, friends. You may send your donations at mgmarly at gmail dot com (PayPal). Hahaha!

Sixteenth Birthday Party and Sleepover ( Momimhar posted on April 19th, 2025 )

Help us wish our dear A a very Happy 16th Birthday! Wow how time flies so fast. I remember when we went to visit with my friend L at her house when my darling daughter was around one year old and A was around three. Years passed by so quickly that our girls are now teenagers.

The birthday party was held at a hotel as per request by the celebrant. She wanted to have a sleepover with the close friends. So us, the mommies, went with our girls and helped with the decorating as well.

A and her guests ate dinner at the hotel first then went to the outlet mall to do some shopping. Me and my friend AR were the chaperones. 😀 Walking around the mall with the teenagers were not our thing anymore. Whenever the kids enter a store, she and I will find a bench to sit on and wait for them to finish shopping. It’s like store hopping. Our feet were sore the next day. After all that store hopping, they spent an hour night swimming in the hotel’s pool. They had lots of fun.

It was close to eleven o’clock in the evening when the rest of the guests went home. My darling daughter and KC (my other mom friend’s daughter) were the only ones staying for the sleepover. This was actually the long-awaited sleepover for the three. They have been talking about this plan for like a decade. Haha. Now their wish was granted.

It was a fun sleepover birthday party. We hoped that A had a wonderful time with her friends on her special day.

Happy Birthday again, A!!!
