One of the best part of summer is pool birthday parties. One of my friends’ daughter celebrated her 7th Birthday several weeks ago. It was held at Ford Pool in Allen (Texas). We haven’t been to that pool before, so darling daughter and I were delighted to be able to attend the birthday party. Entrance free for non-residents was $5 per person. It wasn’t bad. The duration of the party was two hours, occupying one of the covered tables was included.
It was a feast. My friend made lots of food. The children enjoyed swimming and getting on the pool slide. It was a hot sunny day. The cold pool water helped beat the heat.
Not many people at the pool, so that was good. Not crowded at all. Using inflatable floaties were not allowed, though.
Oh my! My darling daughter is now a 5th Grader. It was not so long ago that I was sending her into her classroom for a week in Kindergarten. How did the time fly so fast?
In our district, this is the last year in the elementary school. She is transitioning to middle school this year and seems like she is not ready for it. She said she is not ready to leave elementary school. It’s gonna be a big change I know, but we just have to enjoy every day in elementary.
Fifth Grade school supplies are not that much as I thought. We had to buy a lot of pencils, though.
Several weeks ago, we went to a cabin summer getaway with some close friends of mine. It was my dear friend K who actually asked everyone in our friend circle if any of us wanted to join. The cabin location was in Hochatown, Oklahoma, where the popular Beaver’s Bend State Park is. This family and friends get-together plan has been long overdue because we couldn’t get an ideal schedule for some reason. Finally, we made it possible.
So my friend booked an 8-room cabin near the state park. The luxury cabin is called Lakeside Mansion, and it was huge! It’s a fully-furnished cabin with big patio, outdoor jacuzzi, and a fishing deck. It was a 4 days and 3 nights weekend accommodation for 8 families with young children and teenagers.
Because it was located near the state park, and it’s summer, we had a lot of fun. Water activities and swimming in the river kept the young ones busy. Us moms got busy with the cooking and chaperoning. The dads stood as guardians and took care of the expenses. Haha.
Also, it was a Father’s Day weekend, so we prepared a restaurant fine dining dinner for the dads at the cabin that Saturday night. We cooked:
Us moms had our own dinner table. We prepared a “Boodle Fight” style table. All the food was spread out in an arranged manner on banana leaves.
