It is Summer Break my dear friends! I know each one of you is excited to go on vacation and family visits. But with this COVID-19 pandemic still going on, how can we do that? Though some states in the country are starting to re-open slowly, we still need to observe social distancing and wear face masks. Going out for some outdoor fun in groups is not quite safe, staying home is still recommended.
Summer vacation is one of my favorite times of the year. This is when I don’t have to wake up very early in the morning on weekdays. 😀 I get to sleep late in the mornings and I like it a lot. My darling daughter does the same. We wake up at around 10:00 o’clock in the morning (the latest) when the school is out. Workshops and summer camp schedule is in the afternoon so our day is not in a rush. We just start slow and enjoy the day.
Besides outdoor games and my daughter’s summer camp, my family and I play video games at home. This is one of the fun games my daughter and I do on weekends. Sometimes my dear husband joins us to play, too. Three years ago he bought a Super Mario Kart 8 video game for his daughter three as a Christmas present. We have been enjoying the game on the Wii U from then on.
There are lots of interesting age-appropriate video games. And if you are shopping for games for the family, Rakuten store has gaming consoles and games for all ages and game system types. I am thinking of getting the Animal Crossing game sometime soon. With its good reviews online, I think my darling daughter will like it. It looks fun.
It was a very pleasant morning today. The temperature this morning was in the 70s so I decided to spent some time enjoying it on the front porch. My dear husband came out of the house from the garage and checked the yard. He said the grass needs mowing. He didn’t want to wait for the coming weekend to mow because those grass stalks will two feet tall by then.
“Good idea,” I told him. “Also, the feeder needs a platform so the birds can at least perch on to peck on the seeds. I saw a small bird earlier having a hard time bending its head to get some seeds in there,” I added.
“It’s a cheap bird feeder from Home Depot and the maker I guess didn’t think about it,” he said.
So he got a piece of wood and trimmed it to a size where the bird feeder could be glued with more space for the birds to perch. Hearing the noise in the garage, my curious darling daughter came out. When she learned about the plan, she volunteered to help. She helped gluing the bird feeder onto the square wood. After an hour, they refilled the feeder and hung back to the tree. Teamwork makes it work. 🙂
I was just watching my loves while they work–savoring the happiness in simple things.
It was a very pleasant day driving today. We are here on Padre Island in Corpus Christi, TX. It is our small family’s summer vacation this year. Darling daughter is very happy because she’s been wanting to go to Schlitterbahn Waterparks and Resorts. So we had to try going to the one here in Corpus Christi. If I was not mistaken, were were in two Schlitterbahn Waterparks four years ago. We went to one in Galveston Island and the other one in New Braunfels. We all liked the two locations. Schlitterbhan in Galveston Island was indoors. Though the Schlitterbahn New Braunfels wasn’t, there were lots of shady areas because of big trees within the resort. We’ll see if this one in Corpus Christi is nice.
The targeted time to leave the house didn’t go through. We were supposed to be on the road at 9:00 A.M. today, but we had to leave around 11:00 A.M. instead. It was an 8-hour drive overall from Lavon (TX). We arrived at our destination around 7:00 P.M. and headed towards the front desk to check in and everything. After that, we drove to the beach and relaxed a bit. Then we ate dinner at La Palma Mexican Restaurant off S. Padre Island Drive and Whitecap Boulevard.
