It was a very pleasant day driving today. We are here on Padre Island in Corpus Christi, TX. It is our small family’s summer vacation this year. Darling daughter is very happy because she’s been wanting to go to Schlitterbahn Waterparks and Resorts. So we had to try going to the one here in Corpus Christi. If I was not mistaken, were were in two Schlitterbahn Waterparks four years ago. We went to one in Galveston Island and the other one in New Braunfels. We all liked the two locations. Schlitterbhan in Galveston Island was indoors. Though the Schlitterbahn New Braunfels wasn’t, there were lots of shady areas because of big trees within the resort. We’ll see if this one in Corpus Christi is nice.
The targeted time to leave the house didn’t go through. We were supposed to be on the road at 9:00 A.M. today, but we had to leave around 11:00 A.M. instead. It was an 8-hour drive overall from Lavon (TX). We arrived at our destination around 7:00 P.M. and headed towards the front desk to check in and everything. After that, we drove to the beach and relaxed a bit. Then we ate dinner at La Palma Mexican Restaurant off S. Padre Island Drive and Whitecap Boulevard.
My darling daughter is growing fast that I am almost not aware that she will be in Kindergarten this year. Oh how I adore her being so sweet and smart. Sometimes, but not very often, she is testing the length of my patience. Like what happened during our vacation in the Philippines two months ago.
It was a very fine evening at the Sabin Resort Hotel. My siblings and their kids were with us spending the weekend to swim and have fun since it’s summer vacation and the school is out. My niece and nephews were swimming that night. K saw them in the pool and she asked me that she wanted to join them. I said no. Because as you know, she already get in the pool around 4:00 P.M. and I told her that if she go swim, she’s not gonna go night swimming with her cousins after dinner. I asked her twice if she really want to go ahead and swim without her cousins. She said yes. Okay. So I let her because she insisted, and she agreed she won’t get in the pool again after dinner.
When she’s done swimming, we had dinner with the family at the resort’s restaurant. After about an hour, my niece and nephews went ahead and swim in the pool. K saw them having lots of fun – splashing and chasing each other. But kids are kids, you know. K was jealous. She came to me and asked if she can go in the swimming pool and join her cousins. “See. They’re having lots of fun,” she said. I reminded her about our agreement. I told her that we talked about that earlier. Calmly, I recalled everything to her. But of course, K gave me that sweet-begging-kind of look on her face. It was precious but I have to be firm.
She said, “I will just sit down on the edge of the pool and feel the water on my feet.”
I said, “Not even that one.”
See our kids sometimes play tricks on us. If we give in, we lose. They will think that we don’t have one word. We have to be firm on what we agreed on. It is part of good discipline.
I am glad that my daughter didn’t fuss on that. She knew her boundaries there. To take her attention away from the swimming cousins, I suggested we leave the pool and take a walk towards the seawall. And guess what, we found a treasure. A hair tie. 🙂
First it was two years. Then it’s two months. Now it’s two days. Wow! It’s almost time for our vacation.
It takes about two years for us to plan and save for a long family vacation. Yes it does because in this life, you never know what will come up and what priorities will be. Sometimes you have to set aside the travel plans because there is much more important thing to deal with in terms of expenses. And so there will be a great timing to save money for travels again. Once you have decided and agreed about where to go and what to do, better stick to it so your plans won’t get ruined.
So the vacation plans were finalized. My daughter and I are going on a vacation to the Philippines. In this occasion, we’ll be traveling with a dear friend. Two months go before our flight and I’m like “oh it’s getting closer”. I’m getting excited for our trip.
Oh dear, two more days and we’re on vacation. Wow! How time flies so fast. It’s getting near. My family back home are very excited. My parents and siblings will meet us at the domestic airport in Leyte next week. Happy times!!!
We did so much fun stuff last year. We went on a vacation in the summer and attended kids’ activity parties during the Holidays. It was indeed another wonderful year and my family and I were very grateful for everything.
We went back to San Antonio last summer with our darling daughter. It was 6 years since we were there. We stayed in La Quinta Inns & Suites-Riverwalk. I don’t know but my daughter likes La Quinta. Though it was a very busy vacation, we had so much fun because we went to Sea World San Antonio. It was my darling daughter’s first experience at Sea World. She got to see the Shamu Show, Clyde and Seymour High Show, and got on some rides including the thrilling Journey to Atlantis. That was her favorite ride she said. Gladly it was mostly cloudy the day we went to Sea World. The weather was just perfect for lots of walking in the park. Still, we brought our sunscreen, towels, and three bottled water for us to drink.
The day before Sea World fun, we strolled by the Riverwalk and had dinner at Guadalajara Grill. My favorite meal there was the Molcajete. Then after a fun day at Sea World, we just enjoyed sightseeing by the Riverwalk around lunch time. We got on a boat that tours around. Interesting history and facts while boating. Then we explored the Market Square in the afternoon. My darling daughter got the chance to ride the mechanical bull. She had so much fun. We saw a lot of colorful clothing, souvenir items, home decor, and entertainment (singing) in the square. At check out day, we went up to the Tower of the Americas located at the HemisFair Park. It was very interesting and amazing experience to go up to the tower and read some stuff about Texas history. DD and dear husband looked through telescope a few times and walked around while I was reading stuff.
Three days and two nights in San Antonio, Texas were worth it. Leaving San Antonio, we were headed to New Braunfels for some swim and splash at #Schlitterbahn. It’ll be in my next post. 🙂
