Summer Break This Year Means More Time To Spend With Your Family ( Momimhar posted on June 3rd, 2020 )

It is Summer Break my dear friends! I know each one of you is excited to go on vacation and family visits. But with this COVID-19 pandemic still going on, how can we do that? Though some states in the country are starting to re-open slowly, we still need to observe social distancing and wear face masks. Going out for some outdoor fun in groups is not quite safe, staying home is still recommended.

Summer vacation is one of my favorite times of the year. This is when I don’t have to wake up very early in the morning on weekdays. ūüėÄ I get to sleep late in the mornings and I like it a lot. My darling daughter does the same. We wake up at around 10:00 o’clock in the morning (the latest) when the school is out. Workshops and summer camp schedule is in the afternoon so our day is not in a rush. We just start slow and enjoy the day.

Besides outdoor games and my daughter’s summer camp, my family and I play video games at home. This is one of the fun games my daughter and I do on weekends. Sometimes my dear husband joins us to play, too. Three years ago he bought a Super Mario Kart 8 video game for his daughter three as a Christmas present. We have been enjoying the game on the Wii U from then on.

There are lots of interesting age-appropriate video games. And if you are shopping for games for the family, Rakuten store has gaming consoles and games for all ages and game system types. I am thinking of getting the Animal Crossing game sometime soon. With its good reviews online, I think my darling daughter will like it. It looks fun.

Essentials For Every Field Day ( Momimhar posted on May 26th, 2018 )

Students had fun at the Field Day games

Water slide was K’s favorite at the Field Day.

The classic game of Tug-O-War. Field Day 2018.

Yesterday, Friday, was Field Day at K’s school. Everyone was very busy preparing the outdoor games, obstacle courses, bounce house, and water slide.¬† The children were very excited and couldn’t wait for the special day to come.

The night before, I prepared the important things K may need according to the school’s notice-sunscreen, towel, bottled water, change clothes, and snack/sack lunch.

Sunscreen

Because all the activities are outdoors and late Spring in Texas start to get really hot, it is very necessary to put on sunscreen. Even if it is a cloudy weather, putting on sunscreen is highly recommended to prevent getting sunburns especially on young children’s skin.¬† We’ve been using Banana Boat Sun Comfort Sunscreen Spray.¬† It has been our trusted protection against harmful UV rays for years whenever we go outdoors or to the beach.¬† It’s non-sticky feel after spraying gives it the advantage.

Towel and Change Clothes

Usually field day activities include water games.  Darling daughter said the water slide was her favorite among all the fun games yesterday. So she brought a towel and change clothes because, boy, the students were soaking wet yesterday from the water slide and sponge battle. They had a lot of fun.

Bottled Water

Of course, with constant movement in the heat, the kids needed hydration. And the most convenient item to bring was bottled water.¬† The only thing was, there’s no place to put those drinks in.¬† The crate was full of towels. So I had to look for a big plastic bag to put all those drinks in so I can carry them around.¬† Gladly one of the staff at the sign in area under the shade of the trees had an extra big plastic bag.

Sack Lunch and Snack

I don’t remember if I ordered a sack lunch for K from the cafeteria weeks before the field day. So I packed her lunch anyway just in case I didn’t.¬† After the students’ completed all the outdoor activities, they went back to the classrooms and changed.¬† Then they proceed to the cafeteria for the dance party and yearbook signing. The students ate lunch in their respective classrooms after.

It was an awesome fun day. Good thing the First Graders were the first ones in the schedule to go outdoors before it got too hot at mid day. To end the day, they had Kona Ice to cool them off.  What a great day!

Birthday Party At Sweet & Sassy ( Momimhar posted on December 15th, 2016 )

K’s 6th birthday celebration was amazing. ¬†She has been wanting to go to Sweet & Sassy and have a walk on their stage/runway in the store. ¬†Obviously, she wanted to have a fashion show there. She told me that she wanted her birthday held at Sweet & Sassy. ¬†My dear husband and I talked about the plan and he said book the party ahead of time to avoid the hassle of December party rush.

So here’s K and her dear family and friends at her 6th birthday party Fashion Runway at Sweet & Sassy in Garland (Texas).

Sweet.

Besides being a salon and store, Sweet & Sassy offers party options for kids.  You can choose from six party packages here.  In addition to that, you can also get add ons to the party package you have selected.  Goody bags, Make-your-own Spa items, or a Limo ride are some of the options that you can customized. I added goody bags as giveaways to our guests.  The girls loved it because they got to pick the items they like.

K’s on the spotlight.

K and her guests all dressed up. In this photo, they were about to play a game of Freeze Dance and then dance disco after.

The hostess and the crew were very friendly and lively. ¬†Their cheerfulness kept the children engaged in all the activities during the party. ¬†There was no dull moment. ¬†What added to K’s enjoyment during her party was the music played. ¬†Her favorites: Shake It Off by Taylor Swift, Can’t Stop The Feeling by Justin Timberlake from the movie Trolls, and one that I can’t remember…sorry. ūüôā

The party room. Every party has its own hostess to help serve the cake and drinks.

The goody bags and stuff. These are add ons to the party packages.

Happy birthday, Kaylen. The hostess and her assistants greet the birthday girl and guests at the door before proceeding to the dressing room.

K wanted to wear a Chinese dress on her birthday. Glad I found this dress on Poshmark.

I think it was a great party.  K said she had an amazing day.   I hope our guests had a great time, too.  Thanks for the time and, also, for the birthday presents.
