2025 Vacation Bible School-Live It Out Now ( Momimhar posted on June 23rd, 2025 )

One of the things I love whenever summer comes is the VBS or Vacation Bible School. As far as I can remember, I have attended VBS when I was in 2nd Grade in the Philippines. I also remember not many children attended the VBS in my neighborhood. So it was quite a very close interaction with the volunteer teachers and a very thorough Bible lessons. We even got awards when the VBS concluded. It was a very fun and happy experience for me. During those times, I began to develop the understanding of faith in the Almighty.

Four years ago, I registered my child to attend the VBS in my area. And at the same time, I registered to volunteer to serve. Although there are several assignments, I chose to serve as one of the teachers in one of the Kindergarten classes. Volunteers had to do and pass a highly important online training regarding child’s safety. Gladly I passed it. The VBS in my area is huge so the need of volunteers and training them was vital to it’s success.

VBS theme varies every year. This year, it’s a Team Spirit theme. It’s like a pep rally when it’s Big Group time. Songs of praise, instrumentals, and Bible lesson review are done in Big Group gathering.

VBS is fun and educational. The youth will not only enjoy the age-appropriate activities organized for them, but also they will learn a lot about Jesus and being a good person.

Have you attended a Vacation Bible School before?

Boo on Ballard Glow in the Park Fall Festival 2017 ( Momimhar posted on November 4th, 2017 )

With the Tooth Fairy of Wylie Children’s Dentistry

It was one of the awaited event every Fall season-the Glow in the Park and Boo on Ballard Fall Festival in Wylie, TX every last Thursday of October.  We always go every year.  My darling daughter enjoys trick or treating and seeing some friends downtown.

Lots of activities and all the stores in Downtown Wylie participates in Trick or Treat.  Glow in the Park is held at the Olde City Park while all the trick or treating and Fall festivities are held inside the downtown business area.

There were free hotdogs, water, and cotton candy, zip lining, bubble pit, face painting, barrel rides, and disco.  Lots of fun!  Almost everyone were in their best Halloween costumes.  This year we got to see the Tooth Fairy.  We weren’t able to catch her last year. Yay!  K was very happy.  The Tooth Fairy granted K some pixie dust.  So sweet. 🙂

I am glad that we had a nice weather in this event.  Last year’s was very chilly.  We didn’t get to do the foam pit because I did not bring extra clothes for K.  So she just spent most of the time in the playground.  Then we ate hotdogs, tried out TCBY (The Country’s Best Yogurt) frozen yogurt place on Ballard Street and went home at 8:00 P.M.

Red Ribbon Week ( Momimhar posted on October 25th, 2016 )

Darling daughter’s school is having a week-long campaign called Red Ribbon Week. It is a yearly nationwide campaign against illegal drugs, drug abuse, bullying, and violence.  This is observed every month of October in the United States.  This is to raise awareness to prevent these horrible deeds and habits.  This teaches young individuals the importance of keeping their lives drug-free.

To support the engagement of the students in this campaign, they come up with Red Ribbon themes for this week at K’s school.

Monday – Wear Red as everyone gets RED-y for Red Ribbon Week, and get a red ribbon

Tuesday – Wear camo or camouflage, Fight Against Drugs and Bullies

Wednesday – Wear sunglasses, Our Future is too Bright for Drugs

Thursday – Wear red, white and blue, United We Stand against Drugs and Bullies

Friday – Dress like a super hero outfit or wear a cape, Power to be Drug-Free

The fight against illegal drugs, bullies, and violence is not only happening for a week.  It should be for life.
