2025 Vacation Bible School-Live It Out Now ( Momimhar posted on June 23rd, 2025 )

One of the things I love whenever summer comes is the VBS or Vacation Bible School. As far as I can remember, I have attended VBS when I was in 2nd Grade in the Philippines. I also remember not many children attended the VBS in my neighborhood. So it was quite a very close interaction with the volunteer teachers and a very thorough Bible lessons. We even got awards when the VBS concluded. It was a very fun and happy experience for me. During those times, I began to develop the understanding of faith in the Almighty.

Four years ago, I registered my child to attend the VBS in my area. And at the same time, I registered to volunteer to serve. Although there are several assignments, I chose to serve as one of the teachers in one of the Kindergarten classes. Volunteers had to do and pass a highly important online training regarding child’s safety. Gladly I passed it. The VBS in my area is huge so the need of volunteers and training them was vital to it’s success.

VBS theme varies every year. This year, it’s a Team Spirit theme. It’s like a pep rally when it’s Big Group time. Songs of praise, instrumentals, and Bible lesson review are done in Big Group gathering.

VBS is fun and educational. The youth will not only enjoy the age-appropriate activities organized for them, but also they will learn a lot about Jesus and being a good person.

Have you attended a Vacation Bible School before?

Family and Friends Summer Cabin Experience ( Momimhar posted on August 15th, 2021 )

Several weeks ago, we went to a cabin summer getaway with some close friends of mine. It was my dear friend K who actually asked everyone in our friend circle if any of us wanted to join. The cabin location was in Hochatown, Oklahoma, where the popular Beaver’s Bend State Park is. This friends and family get-together plan has been long overdue because we couldn’t get an ideal schedule for some reason. Finally, it came true.

So my friend booked an 8-room cabin near the state park. The luxury cabin is called Lakeside Mansion, and it was huge! It’s a fully-furnished cabin with big patio, outdoor jacuzzi, and a fishing deck. It was a 4 days and 3 nights weekend accommodation for 8 families with young children and teenagers.

Because it was located near the state park, and it’s summer, we had a lot of fun. Water activities and swimming in the river kept the young ones busy. Us moms got busy with the cooking and chaperoning. The dads stood as guardians and took care of the expenses. Haha.

Also, it was a Father’s Day weekend, so we prepared a restaurant fine dining dinner for the dads at the cabin that Saturday night. We cooked:

  • Brisket
  • Chicken Fajitas
  • Mashed Potatoes
  • Clam Chowder
  • Salad
  • Wine

Us moms had our own dinner table. We prepared a “Boodle Fight” style table. All the food was spread out in an arranged manner on banana leaves.

  • Pork BBQ
  • Grilled Fish
  • Grilled Squid
  • Grilled Shrimp
  • Roasted Chicken
  • Rice
  • Pansit
  • Bibingka
  • Suman
  • Fruit variety

Summer Beach Vacation 2020 ( Momimhar posted on July 24th, 2020 )

It’s finally here! Our summer beach vacation has come. Woohoo! Darling daughter is super excited about this. She wanted to have a summer vacation at the beach so we are going to the Gulf Coasts tomorrow. It is going to a long drive. Dear husband says it’s about 10-12 hours drive to Alabama.

We didn’t have a great beach vacation in the Philippines two years ago because we went early in July and it was rainy the first week we got there, which was supposed to be our beach week (sigh).

So, we thought we’re going to the beach this year! Alabama beaches here we are coming! 🙂
