Hubby Took Care Of DD Today ( Momimhar posted on May 18th, 2013 )

As part of of my ‘me time’ today, I went to the Asian Festival in Dallas together with my girl friends.  My dear husband took care our darling daughter today.  I woke up very early for this trip.   It was a pleasant day to go to Downtown Dallas.  My friend, who lives just a mile from my house, picked me up this morning.

My darling daughter was still sound asleep when I left this morning.  I know she will be looking for me when she wakes up.  But I told her last night that I will be gone for a while today and will be back in the afternoon.  I also told her that she and daddy will be planting more seeds in the vegetable garden.  Our little princess likes to help in the garden.  And she is very interested in planting.  So she already had the idea of tomorrow’s activity.

Because I am used to going out with darling daughter with me, leaving the house for a girls’ day out or party makes me feel guilty sometimes.  But I know deep within me that I need to get out of the house by myself once in a while.  My husband is very understanding.  That’s why I love him more and more.

At the festival, me and my friends had a great time.  We looked around for interesting booths from different Asian cultures.  We saw nice cultural performances.

One of the things caught my attention was the fountain by the entrance of the venue.  I saw kids enjoying themselves splashing and getting wet in the hot sun.  I thought of my little girl while I was looking at the kids having fun.  If she was with me today, she would’ve dragged me to the fountain in no time wanting to join the kids as they play in the water.

Fountain of fun!

The festival was held in Main Street Garden in Downton Dallas. It was a successful event.

Flores De Mayo (Flowers of May) ( Momimhar posted on May 2nd, 2009 )

May is the fiesta month in the Philippines.  Flores de Mayo and Santacruzan are the two traditions that Filipinos follow in honor of the Virgin Mary.

When I was a young girl, my friends and I participates in Flores de Mayo in the neighborhood.  We bring flowers to the chapel and offer them before the statue of  Mary.  Any kind of flower will do (roses, cosmos, bougainvillea, and the like) as long as the children bring some for the day’s offering.  Then participating parents bring  snacks for us – bread, crackers, biscuits, and fruit juice.  The children and I go home happy.

Then at the end of Flores de Mayo, there will be a parade of beauties…beautiful ladies crowned as Queens of the Santacruzan wearing their lovely elegant gowns.  Of course, these ladies are paired with their personally chosen handsome escorts.  This is the most awaited event in the month of May.
