Symphony Band Concert ( Momimhar posted on May 14th, 2013 )

Yesterday, my darling daughter and I attended the Spring Concert & Awards event in Prosper High School where my sister-in-law is working.  She is a music teacher and a band director of the Reynolds Middle School Symphonic I band.  The event showcased the concert of the school bands Symphony I and II, Wind Symphony, and the awarding of outstanding students who excelled in individual or group performances.

I like going to events like concerts.  Of course, I only go to the ones that interest me.  Symphonic band concert is one of them.  My darling daughter enjoyed watching and listening to the music.  When she saw her aunt on the stage conducting her band, she’s very happy.

When we were getting ready to go to the concert, my little girl joined me in my bathroom.  As I was putting my makeup on, I didn’t notice she grabbed my red makeup bag and took the mascara from it’s box.  She called to me and said “Mommy, look at me.”  Surprised and amused, I quickly grabbed my digital camera and took her picture.  The look on her face is priceless.

DD insisted to look at these paintings.

It was a very successful concert.  My sister-in-law’s family was there including her mom, brother and his wife.  I was told that this is my sister-in-law’s last concert with her band because she will be retiring end of this year.

My darling daughter and I enjoyed the concert, too.  She was well-behaved and listened to the music as the band played their musical instruments together.  She was talking about oboe and piccolo…that sort of stuff.  I am hoping that she will have the interest in playing a musical instrument when she gets older.

Musical Instrument For My Toddler ( Momimhar posted on October 3rd, 2012 )

I haven’t bought toys for my little girl lately.  The last time I went to the toy store was three months ago when I did a shopping galore and bought big toys like the swing, toddler table, and a broom and a sweeper.  My husband told me to stop buying toys for a while because our daughter barely playing with the ones in the toy box.

So after three months, we bought a new musical toy for our darling daughter.  My husband and took the opportunity to look for a keyboard that will serve also as learning keyboard for my daughter.  She likes music and shows interest in playing with musical instruments.  So this is her new musical instrument.  We bought a Casio mini keyboard.  There were a few selection of keyboards at the electronics store but I chose to get the Casio mini keyboard because it has the “Ode To Joy” in the list of type of songs.  As soon as we got home, our little girl wanted to play with the keyboard immediately.  But to our disappointment, the sales man gave us the wrong power adapter.  So my husband had to go buy AA size batteries at the convenience store nearby because we only have the AAA size.

Our toddler loves listening to her keyboard playing the music over and over…and over.

We love this mini keyboard 🙂

My Little Dancer ( Momimhar posted on August 12th, 2012 )

My daughter had a wonderful weekend again with cousins.  She joined her older cousins play at my brother-in-law’s house today.  After the big birthday lunch at Lucy’s Grill in Celina, we drove back to his house for a get-together and family pictorial.

Baby girl drumming

His son has a drum set and boy, my little girl loved playing those drums!  She knows how to hit the drums with the sticks.  When her older cousin played the big musical instrument, she danced and danced like she’s a member of a band.  My husband and the rest of the family were very amused because my little girl is showing interest in music and dance.  I guess she got it from me. 🙂  Her favorite dance as of the moment is ballet because there’s a cartoon called Angelina Ballerina on the Sprout channel.  Whenever she hears the opening song of the show, she starts to dance and raises her leg.  That amuses my father-in-law.

Since she was entering the 6th month, my daughter liked listening to children’s songs.  Whenever I played a children’s music CD, she wiggles and tries to dance.  Now that she is a toddler, she can sing along to some of the children’s songs.  Basically she sings with her favorites.  We are very proud because at 18 months, she can sing the ABCs already.  Though some letters in the alphabet are not yet properly pronounced, she knows the melody.  And oh, she can count now too from 1-20 (sometimes she skips the number 16).  So cute!

So whenever she and her cousins get together, it’s fun!
