Importance Of Pretend Play In Toddlers ( Momimhar posted on September 30th, 2013 )

At toddler stage, kids begin to expand their imaginations.  Their ability to imitate someone or something is starting to get stronger.  This is also the stage when the hunger for knowledge takes place, thus giving the correct information should be in the manner that is understandable.  Also at this age, we hear the “what” and “why” questions over and over.  So we keep answering their questions and we feel like we’re getting out of patience.  The reason why little kids want answers again and again because they try to retain those answers in their brains.  The we will be surprised how they remember those information.  So amazing.

And as with pretend plays, toddlers have big imaginations.  Tea parties, playing dress-ups, building blocks, and others are some of the games they play that they truly enjoy.  The can make their own stories while playing.  What’s amusing is that they will let us play with them, too.  When my darling daughter and I are playing superhero game, I play as a villain.  🙂

What helps enhance toddlers imagination?  Reading and play.  Reading with your toddler everyday not only helps with their speech and vocabulary development.  It also makes their brain work.  With pretend play, it encourages children to broaden their horizons and comprehension.

My little one is interested with princesses now so she likes princess gowns for dress-up.  We didn’t find a reasonably priced princess dress at the store the other day but we found this Lalaloopsy outfit with pink wig.  The price wasn’t too much so I bought it for her because she really liked it.  But I am not quite sure this will be her Halloween costume this year because there are lots of cute stuff in stores.

Our Favorite Quick, Easy, and Nutritious Meals From Michelina’s ( Momimhar posted on September 30th, 2013 )

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Michelina’s for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I was never been into cooking until I became a mom.  As a full-time wife and a mom to a very active toddler, one of my responsibilities is to make delicious and nutritious meals everyday.  But sometimes cooking full meals everyday is quite a handful.  So a quick alternative is to making instant meals that my family will enjoy without compromising the health benefits of the food.

Mom's on the go like me wants everything to be quick and easy when it comes to preparing food for my family.   To me, eating lunch is very important because we need energy to keep us going during the day.  So a good healthy meal at lunch should be served.  So what makes me happy?  A stock of Michelina's products in my pantry.  I got to Follow Michelina's on Facebook.  This way, I can get updates on their new products and delicious meals.

My very favorite meals from Michelina's are:

1.  Lemon Garlic Herb Chicken

2.  Spaghetti and Meat Sauce

Talk Like a Pirate Day! ( Momimhar posted on September 19th, 2013 )

It’s been a while since our last visit to the library.  I got quite busy with other stuff so we missed a few story times since summer arrived.  My cousin told me about an upcoming event for kids this week that involves arts and crafts activity and movie showing.  So I registered my darling daughter to join and I found out that they are having a Pirate Day.

It’s Talk Like a Pirate Day event at the library.  When I told my DD about the activity, she got very excited that she kept on talking about Jake and the Neverland pirates on Disney Junior.  Then she kept asking where we going.

The event started with a movie about the Muppets at noon but we did not registered on that because I knew we won’t be able to be at the showing on time.  So I just joined the 2 P.M. activity schedule.  My cousin and her kids were already there when we arrived.  The arts and crafts of the Pirate Day include pirate hats, skull necklaces, and eye patches.

Sooo cute!!!

My darling daughter really had fun today!  She and her cousin Audrey enjoy being together especially on events like this one.  And guess who came to visit?  It’s Capt. Jack Sparrow!

Of course, I won’t miss a photo with Captain Jack Sparrow. 🙂

Awww…I so heart Johnny Depp.  He’s my ultimate crush (foreign celebrity).  Movie time followed the arts and crafts.  I thought it was cancelled because they the closed the kids’ story time room where the activity was held.  Well, the movie showing was in the theater room across the lounge area of the library.  It’s a Peter Pan movie and it wasn’t animated which I like better because the kids will see real actors and creatures on the screen.  The cousins kept asking ‘what happen to who’ and ‘where they’re going’…sorts of stuff.

It was close to 5 P.M. when the movie was over and we were hungry.  We had a little snack and headed to the department store to buy a bridal shower gift for the next day’s party.

All in all, we had a great Pirate Day and the kids had fun!  That’s the most important.

She’s Having A Girl! ( Momimhar posted on September 14th, 2013 )

It’s been a while since I attended a baby shower party.  The last time I went to one was for one of my girl friends in November last year before my family and I went to a long vacation.  I was invited to this party by one of my newly met friend.  Her friend’s step-daughter is having a baby and it’s a girl.

At the party I was able to see my other friends whom I seldom see.  Like me, they are busy mothers.  One of them just got a job-hired as a receptionist in a hotel in Dallas.  I feel a little jealousy here.  I should be going back to work soon, you know.  But my dear husband is not allowing it yet.  To tell you the truth, I am getting impatient.  But there’s a reason why.  I have to stay home and be a full time mom and wife until my little girl goes to school.  I don’t feel bad about it.  It’s just that, I feel left behind.  You know what I mean?

Well, everyone had a great time at the baby shower party.  Lots of good food.  Guests had a great time talking and catching up.  Picture-taking here and there.  So much fun!  The mom-to-be was very happy that her stepmother hosted a big party for her and the upcoming baby.  My gifts for her are baby wipes, rattle and teether, and a onesie clothing for the cold months ahead.

As the party progresses, me and the ladies joined a guessing game.  We have to guess what kind of baby food is in each jar.  Man, I got nothing right!  Well, the answers had to be specific.  How do I know what food combinations are there.  I just wrote down the main and the first flavor I tasted.  Oh well… 🙂

I didn’t stay very long at the party because I had to go home before the clock struck 7 P.M. I had a great time though.
