Kaye’s First Gardening ( Momimhar posted on May 1st, 2013 )

It’s our darling daughter’s first gardening last weekend.  We went to the garden store and we bought some vegetables and flowers to plant.  My darling husband tilled the garden soil the day before the planting so the soil is soft and perfect.

I have some seeds available for planting.  Daddy let our little girl help with sticking the seeds in the soil.  She was having fun because she was looking forward to it.  She likes digging in the soil and watering the plants.

Darling daughter planting her first beans.

It was not really hot that day.  In fact, the breeze was quite chilly.  Just right temperature for planting vegetables and flowers.  In two weeks the beans will sprout and I cannot wait for them to climb on the trellis.  Actually, they’re string beans.  I am sure my little girl will be excited to see sprouts, too.  She likes eating tomatoes and we planted plenty of them this year.  Few of my darling daughter’s favorite vegetables are:

Broccoli

Tomatoes

Lettuce

Green beans

Spinach

Bok Choy

Carrots

Chayotte Squash

She likes them in salads and in soups.  We only have tomatoes and beans in our garden though.  Next time we’ll have to work on planting the other veggies.  Vegetables are great for kids aside from fruits.  It helps regulate the body to prevent constipation.

Started Tummy Time At Four Months ( Momimhar posted on May 1st, 2013 )

My new niece is 4 months old already.  Oh how fast time flies.  My sister-in-law gives me updates thru text messages and photos on Facebook.  My niece can roll over now but cannot hold her head up very long yet.  That’s good that she’s up-to-date with her milestones.  My sister-in-law said she’s giving her rice cereal now.  But she is still breastfeeding the baby.  My mom said baby E doesn’t like the feeding bottle.

I remember when my little girl was a newborn.  She started rolling over at three months.  And at 4 months, I started giving her tummy time.  Tummy time helps strengthen babies’ chest, back, and neck.  The newborn musical play gym and infant activity play mat helped enhance her motor skills fast.  She reaches, grabs, and feel the toys in the play gym.  That moment I told myself, I should be ready for my child’s curiosity.  I missed her newborn moments.  But now I am enjoying her toddler stage.

Babies grow very fast.  I told my sister-in-law to keep memory of the milestones of baby E by taking photos or videos whenever she gets a chance.  Also, I shared with her articles on how to care for her newborn so baby will stay healthy.  And I wish I was there to help my sister-in-law care for baby E.

New Project For The Yard ( Momimhar posted on May 1st, 2013 )

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Scotts Miracle-Gro for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

It is gardening time for us here.  My darling husband already prepared the soil for vegetable garden.  The flower beds are already cleaned.  We bought new flowering plants for the front yard.  Some of them are annuals.  I am very inspired to do my gardening this year because we will be looking forward to a new project for the yard – a small landscaping.

But for the moment, I am focused on filling my flower beds with colors.  And you know what will help me fulfill that?  The Scotts Florida Select Natural Eucalyptus Mulch.  And to get me going, I need these gardening supplies in handy:  flowering plants, tiny shrubs for spacers, my favorite shovel, rake, top soil, and shower wand for watering.  We tried a different type of mulch last year but it just did not work very good.  Florida Select Mulch might work longer in our garden this time because it said to prevent weeds naturally while helping to conserve soil moisture and moderate soil temperature.  And for non-Florida residents, you can use Scotts® Nature Scapes® mulch as an option for lanscaping needs this Spring. It comes in 3 different colors: Classic Black, Sierra Red, and Deep Forest Brown and they’re natural forest products – no waste wood and come in a variety of textures. Scotts Mulch helps to maintain moisture, prevent weeds, and create a groomed landscape all year long.

As I mentioned, we will be starting our vegetable garden very soon–probably next weekend.  I cannot wait to harvest homegrown veggies and sustainable gardening, especially growing vegetables, saves money.  When all these are done, next will be a small landscaping in the front yard.  And Scotts Nature Scapes mulch might be a good choice.
