Simple Home Remedies For Colds ( Momimhar posted on March 20th, 2012 )

Baby is having colds right now.  She has runny nose and sneezing too.  I was trying to think where she got it?  Oh, we went to the play place in the mall Saturday.  Yea, that’s it!  Now I am having a difficult time comforting my little one.  She’s fussy and does not eat much.  I wonder if it’s also the side effect from the two shots given on her 15th wellness checkup.

Home remedies for colds are important if you do not want to spend a lot of money on over-the-counter medicine.  That’s what I am trying to do now.

1.  Infants cannot blow their noses yet.  They are too young to do that.  So instead of letting my baby blow her nose, I spray saline drops in her nostrils and use the bulb syringe to remove the mucus.

2.  Before bedtime a warm bath in a steamy room helps to soothe stuffy nose and helps breathing.  Then I wet two cotton buds with Eucalyptus oil and safely place them on top of the dresser and let the aroma fill the room.  It helps baby breath easily.  Oh, thanks to General Ideas for this one.

3.  Liquid intake is very important.  Besides milk, fruit and vegetable juice are helpful to maintain hydration.  Vitamin C in fruit and vegetable can boost immune system.

4.  Lots of rest.  My little one refuses to nap sometimes.  But I am trying my best to let her take a nap at least once a day.  It is best for babies and kids to nap to help their bodies regain energy.

I hope baby will feel better soon.  It is no fun when sick, I know.  If the condition still the same in the next few days, we will see her pediatrician.
