Hello everyone! I am very thankful that my dear husband let me have me time yesterday. I went on a weekend trip to have some little entertainment in Oklahoma. We go there once in a while when we he has a few days of. But this time we take turns on going there. I had lots of fun. I missed dear hubby and our little girl but I need some time off for myself once in a while – away from house chores and routine.
On my way home, I stopped by at a department store to buy some birthday gifts – for a friend’s daughter and for my niece. I took my time. I felt great when I got home. 🙂
How about you? What do you do or where do you go for a me time?

Portrait at the doctor’s office.
I had my health check-up last week. I have been feeling awful since my ears were plugged. I couldn’t hear nothing. My dear husband said it might be due to a sinus problem. I didn’t have colds. It’s just my ears were plugged I woke up one morning.
For about a week I tried to observe and did some research for home remedies for plugged ears. But it didn’t go away. So last month I went to see a doctor. He checked my ears. He didn’t see anything except wax build up. My heart and lungs sounded great. But my blood pressure was very high. Upon learning about my health history, he prescribed a high blood press medicine for one month. Then I have to come back to see him again to see if the medicine works. After I took all the medicine, I didn’t come back to see him. I went to a family doctor instead, which was last week’s appointment.
It was quite a drive to our new family doctor’s office. But I picked them because they open at 7:00 A.M.. Their location is convenient for my husband because it’s closer to his work. His ideal time for appointment is 8:00 A.M.. And they are in-network with our health insurance plan. My check-up went well. The high blood pressure medicine I was taking was okay. It helped my blood pressure down to normal. And my ears were not plugged anymore.
As parents, we should always be aware of our health. Getting sick is normal. It’s our body’s reaction to bad elements in our surroundings. Eating healthy, nutritious foods and regular exercise are highly recommended. But if we feel something weird and is going constant, we should seek a physician’s help. We only have one body. We cannot take good care of our family if we do not take care of ourselves.
It was a pleasant day for Egg Hunting. My cousin’s Moms Group (where she’s a member) hosted an Egg Hunt last Wednesday at the Founder’s park in Wylie (Texas). She invited me and DD to come and join. My darling daughter was so excited while we were filling the plastic eggs with treats. We brought some eggs to share and scattered on the ground and hid them in small trees.
Egg hunting begins.
DD filling her basket with colorful eggs.
Cousin A finding some eggs.
But the girls were more interested in playing at the playground.
Our girls got to go find the eggs first as the president of the Moms Group announced ages 1-3 go first. As they pick up eggs, they shake them first. Smart! After checking out what they got, which didn’t took very long, they headed to the playground quickly. The girls had fun.
My cousin introduced me to a few of her acquaintances in the group. They’re friendly. We didn’t get to talk much because we were all busy tending and watching for our kids. My cousin and I have circle of friends but I am not in a moms group. Maybe one of these days I will be able to think more about joining a moms group.
How about you? Have you joined any group in your area?
As a first time mom, sometimes I am overwhelmed with the things going on around the house especially with the chores and all. I can’t catch up most of the time. And it makes me feel irritable and crabby. I want everything to be done in one day! But how can I do that? I am not a superwoman. My husband said I have to take it easy. One step at a time and I’ll get things done. I know he wants to help me and wants me to be stress-free. But I can’t help thinking about so many things.
There are times I feel down and blue. No cheer or motivation at all. When it happens, my little one is affected. Then I feel guilty at times. Am I depressed? Here’s what I found about signs and symptoms of depression in women.
The symptoms of depression in women are the same as those for major depression. Common complaints include:
- Depressed mood
- Loss of interest or pleasure in activities you used to enjoy
- Feelings of guilt, hopelessness and worthlessness
- Suicidal thoughts or recurrent thoughts of death
- Sleep disturbance (sleeping more or sleeping less)
- Appetite and weight changes
- Difficulty concentrating
- Lack of energy and fatigue
Honestly I tell you that motherhood and parenting can be exhausting and depressing. But if you allow the reasons to overcome you, definitely depression will get into you. Me? I just hope and pray that I will be able to handle what is going one right now in my life. So much stress!!! Help me God!
