School Supplies Shopping For Back-to-School ( Momimhar posted on August 20th, 2016 )

Gee.  I missed the tax-free weekend shopping this month.  Me and my family went to a week-long vacation out of state.  We went to Arkansas Diamond Mine State Park in Murfreesboro and to Wegner Crystal Mine in Mount Ida.  They have been in our bucket list so we were glad we were able to go and visit these beautiful sites.  Then we headed to Beaver’s Bend State Park in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.  For us, vacation is always about adventure, enjoyment, family fun, and relaxation.  Experiencing the places we visit and making great memories are life’s treasures.

Oh, you know what?  My darling daughter has reached another milestone.  She is going to Kindergarten this year.  I am in a sentimental mode right now.  I am a stay-at-home mom and I will be missing her during the day when she’s in school.  When my husband and I first brought up the idea of schooling to our daughter K, she said she doesn’t want to go to school because she will miss me.  And if I will drop her off to school, she wants me to wait for her at the school’s parking lot. 🙂 But when we attended the Back-to School Bash event last Saturday and Meet the Teacher Day Thursday, my darling daughter somehow began to show excitement.

Even though I missed the tax-free weekend, I still had great deals on school supplies for back-to-school.  One of the stores I like shopping for school supplies is Walmart.  They have great prices on notebooks, pencils, crayons, glue, binders…and others.  I finished the school supplies shopping today because I don’t have a plan to drive anywhere tomorrow.  I am going to relax, enjoy the last day of sleeping late tomorrow.  Because on Monday, our lives are gonna change so much – on the first day of school.

I am happy that we are in a school district where standardized school clothing are implemented.  I do not have to worry about buying new clothes for K.  With standardized school clothes, my laundry will be reduced to about 20% every week, I think.

I bought five assorted solid-colored polo shirts from for $5.00 per shirt.  The two navy skirts were bought from Walmart for $8.98 each I believe.  I got two excellent condition khaki pants, one khaki dress, and one navy dress for free from the Back-to-School Bash outgrown uniform donation.  A pair of black Mary Jane school shoes were bought today from Payless Shoe Store for $14.99. Oh, I almost forgot the Shopkins backpack was $15.98 and Peppa Pig lunch bag $8.00 are from Target.

Student Backpacks That Will Last For A Very Long Time ( Momimhar posted on September 15th, 2015 )

Besides shoes, uniforms, papers and pens, one of the most important back-to-school supplies are handbags and backpacks. When my siblings and I were younger, we’re really get excited when the school starts.  Even though we were poor, we tried our best to finish school.  We lack of something more often but we survived the tough times.

To be honest, I didn’t have a decent bag for my school things.  So I just carried my stuff to school everyday in my arms.  I envy those students who carries backpacks and nice handbags to school.  I thought to myself, I will be able to buy one for myself and each for my siblings someday.  Though it didn’t happen sooner, I was happy that me and my siblings were able to finish school with flying colors despite of difficult times.

Now that we are grown ups and have our own kids, we do our very best to provide for their needs especially when school requirements are concerned.  It was back to school two weeks ago.  My niece and nephews were all set.  They have new school supplies, new uniforms, and bags.  My sister, brother, and I were shopping for backpacks for the kids.  We were looking for ones that will last for a very long time.  That means they should be durable.  There were a lot of styles and brands but ZALORA’s collection of Jansport bags is pretty awesome!

I was dreaming of this backpack before.  It’s simple yet durable.  The size is just right for carry on.  And with proper use and care, it will stay for a very long while.  This is truly great for back to school.

Back To School Shopping Is On ( Momimhar posted on August 1st, 2015 )

School supplies.

School supplies.

Oh back to school is here. And tax-free weekend is next weekend.  But as I was told, there is no tax for purchases of $100 below. Why oh why? If I will go shopping in tax-free weekend, what I will do is to buy my child needs for school in separate receipts.  I know it’s quite tedious but to be able to avail the tax-free privilege, I would like to do that.

There is an excitement inside me seeing school supplies on display in stores.  Parents and kids get busy shopping for the things they need.  Aside from the school supplies, uniforms, shoes, handbags, and backpacks are a few of the back-to-school essentials that we have to provide our children.

My niece and nephews are happy that they have new school shoes and uniforms.  They’re growing so fast that they have outgrown their old uniforms and shoes already.  This school year, my niece is a college freshman, my nephew (her baby brother) is in 7th grade, and my other nephew is in 2nd grade.  Next fall, my darling daughter will in Kindergarten.  We will be going on a long vacation before she starts school next year.  It is still a few months a head but I am now getting excited for our next vacation.

She Dropped My Laptop ( Momimhar posted on November 14th, 2013 )

Oh dear!  What I am gonna do right now?  My laptop computer is not functioning right as of the moment.  My sweet darling daughter got a hold of my laptop the few days ago and she dropped it.  It was sitting on the dining table for moment after our delicious bacon and eggs breakfast.  I heard something dropped badly.  I didn’t think it was my laptop.  But when I came back to the dining area, I saw my computer on the floor whacked!  I felt very upset, of course first reaction.  But when my sweet darling daughter approached me quickly saying “I’m sorry, mommy” and gave me a tight hug, everything’s fine.  Ah, motherhood.

My dear husband suggested to find a laptop repair shop for my Dell computer.  Honestly, this is the second time my laptop is going to be repaired.  It’s really a pain when something in the house is broken and needs  fixing as ASAP.  My friends are teasing me about getting a new one.  I am not ignoring the idea of buying a new laptop.  But now, if I can get this one repaired good, I will keep it as long as it’s working well.  I just hope the parts don’t cost a fortune.

Kaye’s New Backpack ( Momimhar posted on February 21st, 2013 )

a-personalized backpack for kids

Oh yes!  She is very proud of her new backpack!  We had to replace the old one because my darling daughter is getting bigger and she needs a something that will carry her snacks and meals, drinks, and her favorite book.  Because it is a toddler backpack, her lovey bunny won’t fit in it.  She has to hold it.  She said she’s an explorer that’s why she has a backpack.  🙂

My toddler enjoys playing and, as part of her development, pretend play is constant in the house.  When we pretend we’re in the park for a picnic, I spread the nap mats on the carpet while she gets her stuff from the bag.  Sometimes she pretends she’s a school girl.  I know it’s kinda dramatic but I am not ready for her to be in school yet.  🙂  But my little one is fascinated about school buses.  She carries her backpack and goes to the door and say, “I am going to school, Mommy.”

K said she's heading to school. :)

K said she’s heading to school. 🙂

What I like about this backpack is that, it can be personalized to your preference such as names, initials, endearment, etc.  I picked this color and design because my little one likes ladybug. Hey, this can be included in her First Things collection.  It’s made of cotton (excludes accessories).  There’s a side pocket for little knick-knacks.  There’s a button and button holes on the straps for easy adjustment.  I think this backpack is cute and durable.  If you have little kids and you want personalized kindergarten backpacks for them, go to for more selection of cute designs.  Very affordable and these can be great  gifts to little ones and also for back to school.

Anyway, tomorrow is Story Time at the library.  I won’t be carrying two totes because my daughter will surely be carrying her new backpack.
