It’s A Girl…Again ( Momimhar posted on July 19th, 2012 )

My cousin and I went to a birthday party few days ago.  I thought she won’t be able to come because of her condition.  She is in her last trimester of her pregnancy.  This is her second child and it’s a girl!  Ah-bee has a little sister.

It was great to see her looking good and staying healthy.  She told me before that she was diagnosed with Placente Previa.  It is a condition where the placenta maybe located in the lower part of the uterus covering the cervix outlet.  Some pregnant women gets it.  But as the pregnancy progresses, Placenta Previa resolves itself.  It was a good news she shared to me that she does not have it anymore.  Thank God!

I had complications with my pregnancy also – Gestational Diabetes, Infection, and Hypertension. It was difficult.  We were so thankful that my healthcare provider took very good care of me and my baby.

Now our babies are growing fast.  Ah-bee and Kaye are turning two years old in four months.  They both love being in the water.  So they enjoyed swimming at the birthday party.  It was held in recreation center with an indoor swimming pool.  A nice idea for a summer kids party.

My Husband Keeps On Telling Me Not To Worry ( Momimhar posted on June 28th, 2012 )

I am very glad that my pregnancy went well.  There was a moment during my pregnancy when I got worried about my baby’s health like is she growing normal in my womb?  Will she have ten fingers and toes?  Is she getting the nutrition she needs for her development?  I was thinking about these things often.  My husband kept on telling me not to worry.  “Everything will be fine,” he said.  “Just follow what the doctor says.  Then both you and baby will be great.”

I remember this month two years ago when I had my AFP test (Alpha-Fetoprotein (AFP) in Blood).  This type of test is to determine Down Syndrome in pregnant women.  I was shocked when the nurse told me (after the test results) that there’s a possibility for baby to have Down Syndrome.  The recommendation was to see a Maternal-Fetal Specialist.  I called my husband right after my conversation with the nurse.  I was crying and very worried.  It was the 29th of June when we went to the specialist.  There, the nurses explained about the procedures to check/determine Down Syndrome.  My husband and I were firm with our decision not to do Amniocentesis (also referred to as amniotic fluid test or AFT).  The Maternal-Fetal Specialist did a high resolution ultrasound to see and measure baby’s bones.  We were relieved when he said that my baby is growing normal.  And he assured me that.  That was the day when we learned that we are expecting a baby girl.  That was a good news!

She’s A Singer Like Mommy ( Momimhar posted on May 1st, 2012 )

My little princess likes to sing.

Playtime is healthy and very important for growing babies.  In this picture, my little girl is trying to sing along with the children songs played on DVD.  I found it cute because she was trying really hard to pronounce the words.  She had fun singing and playing with the microphone.  Her daddy said she’s a singer like mommy. 🙂

Babies and kids’ exposure to music is highly essential to their development.  Parents play a big role in contributing to this developmental factor.  As early as a pregnancy, expectant mothers are advised to read and sing to their babies.   A baby’s sense of hearing develops much before being born.  While inside the mother’s womb, he or she can hear the mother’s lovely voice even the outside noises and sounds.  The baby’s ability to hear very well helps speech and brain development.

Interaction like reading, talking, and playing together can help our kids’ learning to be fun and easy.  My little girl’s favorite indoor activities when we are playing are singing, sorting, stacking, and chasing each other.  She laughs hard whenever I catch her.  We sing “Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone?”, “Eensy Weensy Spider”, “Six Little Ducks”, and song from The Fresh Beat Band.

Blessed With Strong Support System And Efficient Health Care ( Momimhar posted on April 26th, 2012 )

My pregnancy was wonderful but not very easy.  I had complications.  I did not know until two months of gestation.  At first I thought I was only having some minor allergies.  But when I noticed a swelling on the left side of my neck just above the neck bone and felt a little pain when I put pressure on it, I was bothered.  So my husband told me to see our family doctor in Fort Worth immediately.

To make the story short, I went through a biopsy where the doctor took a some tissue sample.  And I was diagnosed for an infection.  My therapy began immediately as soon as the type of infection was known.  Then I quit work because I developed Plantar Fasciitis that gave me a hard time walking.  My feet were swelling and painful.  I was not able to stand for a long period of time anymore at work.  So I was advised to have full rest as my pregnancy progressed.  Soon enough on the second trimester of the pregnancy, my feet began to feel better.  And then came Gestational Diabetes.  But it was carefully controlled by proper diet.  Whew!  My body had a wild reaction with the first time pregnancy.

My physicians were great.  They took very good care of me, the pregnancy, and baby.  I was blessed with strong support system and efficient health care.

Answered Prayer ( Momimhar posted on April 21st, 2012 )

It was this time of the year two years ago I found out I was expecting.  My heart was filled with joy because God answered my prayer.  The pregnancy was the perfect gift for our wedding anniversary.

They said that the first and third trimester of pregnancy is the critical stage.  Pregnant women will experience different kinds of issues like morning sickness, complications and other pregnancy problems.  Of course, every pregnancy is different.  I had only experienced morning sickness once or twice within the first trimester.  My OB/GYN advised me to drink fruit juice and milk everyday.  I really liked the fact that healthcare is a priority here in the USA, especially for pregnant women.  Prenatal checkups are very important to monitor the development and growth of the baby, plus the health status of the mother.

Gladly, I had bought the book “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” from a garage sale a year before I got pregnant.  Maybe I was anticipating that I might conceive some time soon.  Anyway, the book was very helpful to me as I read the chapters about how the baby is developing inside the mother’s womb.  The book served as my pregnancy guide and I was very happy because it has given me encouragement as well as giving the readers advices on how to take care of the pregnancy.

Whenever I think about my pregnancy experience, I cannot help but smile.  My heart is filled with love for my baby.  I will do everything for her and raise her prudently to become a good person.
