Guess Who Is Going To College? ( Momimhar posted on May 4th, 2015 )

Two young family members graduated five weeks ago.  My niece and nephew,my younger sister’s kids, finished high school and elementary levels.  They both received the Most Behave award in their respective classes.  On the other hand, my other nephew (my brother’s son) received the Best Achiever award during the Recognition Ceremony at his school.  He will be in Third Grade this coming school year.

My niece IJ is entering college in June.  She is pretty much excited.  We are too.  Another member of the family is going to college.  Not so many kids can get a college education, you know.  That is why we are doing our best to help and assist our young ones with their needs in school.

I asked my sister if her daughter has something in mind what course to take in college.  She said my niece wants to take a Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) course.  Yet she said her husband wants IJ to take teaching.  IJ is not interested with that.  I told my sister to follow what her daughter’s interest.  If she finds HRM difficult, she can always switch courses.  But I believe that there is no difficult field as long as you have the interest to do it unless you do not have the financial support for it.  But we can always find a way to provide especially when we see our kids study hard.

And so, my two sisters accompanied my niece to the school for enrollment process.  She had her entrance examination, finished paper works, and got interviewed as well.  The three ladies went home happy for the enrollment’s done.  The next thing to do is buy school supplies and new uniforms for our students.

My Sister Passed The Nursing Licensure Examination ( Momimhar posted on February 2nd, 2015 )

D with our parents.

D with our parents.

I am super happy and proud right now.  Yeah, can’t describe my feelings.  I received a good news from my family back home that my baby sister D, who graduated from college of nursing, passed the Nursing Licensure Examination (NLE) in the Philippines.  Oh my goodness it was a very happy day when I learned that she did it.  That good news was a great birthday present to me.

My sister graduated from college in April last year and took a review in a NLE Review Center in Cebu City, Cebu few months after her graduation.  I don’t remember the name of the review center exactly but I will update this post as soon as find out from my sister.  My husband and I were so confident about letting her join the review classes in preparation for the licensure examination.  Review centers help nurse graduates to learn techniques and strategies in answering the test.  The Board of Nursing changes the structure of the examination yearly.  So they have to study and review hard.

D is now a nurse. We are very proud of her.  The Oath Taking is gonna be held in Tacloban City, Leyte next weekend.  She and her classmates who also passed the examination will be registering at the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on that day.  Now my husband and I have to figure out how to get her over here in the US.  We want her to work here and get a Master’s Degree in Nursing.  We live in Texas and we want my sister to work in a hospital close to us.

If you know of hospitals that do sponsorship and hire nurses from overseas, please let us know.  Your help is highly appreciated.

My Sisters ( Momimhar posted on July 18th, 2014 )

My sisters.

My sisters.

These are my sisters.  They are Milly and Dylen.  The youngest is Dylen, the one in the front.  Milly is married and a mom to two teenage girl and boy.  We are four in the family and I am the eldest.  Our only brother is next to Milly.  He is also married now with two children.

Dylen just graduated college a couple of months ago.  Now she is preparing to go to the nursing board examination review in Cebu next month.  She and few of her classmates who are in the 3rd batch of reviewers will head to Cebu and stay there for a few weeks.  Dylen told me that they have to pay the review tuition in full this month so they don’t have to think about it during the review.  In addition to the tuition, they have to pay lodging.  We sent Dylen some travel money so she has a budget during her stay in Cebu.

I miss my siblings very much.  I miss our talks and hanging out together.  We are looking forward to a long vacation again.  And we are planning to go to the beach.  Hopefully we will be able to do it.  It’s a long wait but we have a long time to save money for it.  🙂
