I was very shocked to know that a 6.5 magnitude earthquake hit my hometown Kananga (Leyte, Philippines) around 4:00 P.M. July 6th. It was tremendously horrible because my family haven’t experienced an earthquake with a magnitude that high. It’s one of the huge natural disasters so far. In 2013, a Category 5 Super Typhoon hit my province also. If you remember Typhoon Haiyan (known as Typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines), my province was the most affected when it made a landfall in November 2013. No power for almost four months. So depressing. Now…earthquake.
I was very worried about my family’s safety. I was relieved when my niece sent me a message telling me that everyone is safe. Thank goodness! My brother and his family was also safe. I can imagine the scared people screaming all over the place. I will be in panic, as well.
They are still expecting aftershocks every now and then. That’s also the danger of earthquakes. Aftershocks follow after the big one.
Hopefully, electricity and water supply will be back to normal. The sooner the better.
