Receiving The Fruit Of Thy Labor ( Momimhar posted on April 22nd, 2013 )

In times of struggles in life, even a job is hard to find.  I am saying this because my parents and siblings have experienced difficulties in job hunting back home.  Here in the US, as long as you are able (yet even those who have disabilities) and not very picky, you can land a job.  And if blessed with a satisfying compensation, you will be able to pay for your apartment and car.  In addition, you can also pay for your insurance policies.

My family back home has a simple way of living day to day.  My parents do not have a stable job so they do not have the benefits that the regular workers should have.  No Social Security nor life insurance.  Why?  They do not have enough resources to pay for those.  I think workers here in the US are lucky to have those type of privileges (are they?).  It is because when they get old and not able to work anymore, they will be receiving the fruits of their labor.

But there are some senior citizens who get into A Life Settlement  process where they want to get a lump sum of money from their life insurance policies.  It seems to me that they surrender or sell their life insurance policies to a third party.  This way, they do not have to pay for its premiums.  Instead, they will get the money they want and use it to fund particular living expenses.  Sure seems complicated but, like I said, some seniors are doing it.  But whatever the reason is, it is always important to seek a helpful advice.

As we know it, we are not getting any younger.  So we should use our time wisely.  The money we earn from working or business should also be managed properly so our family and ourselves will benefit from good financial management.

As someone who has worked in the US all her life–I have paid into Soc Sec all those years–it is not exactly a gift!! If they would give me back what I put in then I would have quite a stash in my bank account. Unfortunately it is not as easy to get a job right now-I know-I have been looking since January and nothing yet–

It is a great idea to save for our future/retirement fund as soon as we started working. Not everyone has the resources to get an insurance plan with the government and private insurance can be really expensive. It’s best to have a savings and retirement fund at the same time.

The way of living is really different in the US and in different parts of the world. Having employment benefits like insurance is such a blessing. For those who don’t have insurance, I suggest that you get one. It’s really not that expensive if you start early.

I agree with you. That is why I am working my way on getting my family out in the Philippines.

Philippines is really a not beautiful place to live in unless you have a business or have a good permanent job. Luckily, my family is living comfortably with a stable business so I don’t have to worry about them. It is the other way around, they are more worry about how I am doing here in the US. They will be happy if we all stay for good in the Philly.

I agree! we have the same situation. That’s why sometimes i wished that my parents and siblings are here too so they can benefit the things that benefited me. As a matter of fact though they are already old they can still work here but not in our homeland, too sad.

  12. When my Dad retired from his work, he got the lump sum and wasted it 🙁 I do not like that idea 🙁 I’d rather receive the partial funds every month and I think my husband will receive his retirement every month as well when he retires, that way he has money to look forward to every month 🙂
